I had been looking forward to the release of Cal Newport’s newest book, Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life In A Noisy World, for well over a month. Hot off the press with a release date of February 5th, I finished the entire book over a single weekend. In a well stitched together outline, the first half of the book discusses how technology (especially smartphones and social media) are affecting our lives in ways that we often don’t even realize. The second half is devoted to various practices and techniques that we can all use to give more purpose to our use of these technologies.

About the Author – Cal Newport At the age of 36, Cal is a tenured professor at Georgetown University in Computer Science. In addition to his academic career, Cal has published several best selling books surrounding technology and how it affects us. Prior to the release of to Digital Minimalism, the author’s 2016 book Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World, was also a highly applauded best seller.
